Odisea festival poster in a metro station

Overview

Odisea is a reggaeton and Latin urban music festival I invented for Montréal. I built its brand strategy and visual identity, then carried it onto a poster, a vinyl sleeve, merchandise and a website.

About Odisea

Inspired by the word "odyssey", Odisea is a three-day festival dedicated to reggaeton and Latin urban music. It's a summer adventure where the biggest Latin artists set the stage on fire and bring a passionate community together. Odisea is where the party never stops, with powerful beats and wild energy, at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montréal.

The imagined lineup: Bad Bunny, Karol G, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Anuel AA, Ozuna, Rauw Alejandro, Arcángel, Sech, Maluma, Nicky Jam, Becky G, Lunay, El Alfa and Farruko.

Mission and values

Odisea was created to become THE reggaeton festival in Canada, the first event in Montréal to fully celebrate reggaeton and urbano culture at this scale. It brings together fans of perreo, Latin trap, dembow and Latin hip-hop for an experience of music, culture and community.

  • Reggaeton is a culture.
  • Only the most in-demand reggaeton stars.
  • A community united by music that makes you move.
  • The ultimate summer vibe, carried by the heat of reggaeton.

Audience

  • Alejandro, 24, Montréal. Loves Bad Bunny and Don Omar. Recently graduated, loves nightlife, keeps up with new music, and is always on TikTok and Instagram.
  • Sofia, 18, Montréal. Loves Rauw Alejandro and Maluma. A college student who just turned 18 and wants to make the most of going out with friends. Passionate about Latin food.
  • Tatiana, 26, Toronto. Loves Daddy Yankee and Karol G. A bilingual Latin American marketing grad who posts "day in my life" content and travels to hubs of Latin culture like Miami and Puerto Rico.

Process

01 · First concept

Odisea started out hot and summery: a sunset gradient from black through red to yellow, red palm leaves, and a gold, chrome-effect wordmark with sparkles. As the identity developed, I changed direction to the starry night theme it has now, with a night sky, a star in the logo and glowing purple, magenta and orange gradients.

02 · Moodboard

Concert lights, rave and night-party posters, and liquid, cosmic gradients in purple, magenta and orange, set against black and white.

03 · Logo sketches

I sketched the wordmark in many forms: stacked, outlined, and with a star, a nod to nightlife, replacing or sitting inside the "O". Then I tested the strongest ideas digitally in bold, wide letterforms.

04 · Final logos

The primary logo is the ODISEA wordmark with a four-pointed star cut into the "O". The star alone is the logomark. Both work in black on white and white on black.

05 · Visual elements

Typography: Eurostile, in Bold for headings and Regular for body text.

06 · Posters and vinyl sleeve

The poster sets the logo over a glowing purple and orange gradient with a performer's silhouette, the headliners (Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Karol G), the venue and the ticketing site. The vinyl sleeve uses the same gradient and wordmark.

I also designed a second poster: a retro, duotone collage of a convertible with an ODISEA licence plate driving toward the city skyline, under a disco-ball planet.

07 · Website

I also designed a website for the festival, with home, lineup, tickets, merch, info and contact pages.
