Audrey Hepburn
Newspaper Feature

Overview
A four-page newspaper feature on Audrey Hepburn for a newspaper I named Le Tapis Rose ("The Pink Carpet"). I wrote the articles, drew the illustrations and laid out every page. The headline: "Une vie de grâce, de talent & de compassion" ("A life of grace, talent and compassion").
Process
01 · Masthead and grid
A Le Tapis Rose masthead with a pink bar, a multi-column newspaper grid with thin pink rules, drop caps to open each article, light condensed uppercase headings and italic subheads.
02 · Illustrations
I drew soft, hand-drawn illustrations in pink, blue and neutral tones, each tied to a moment in her life: her iconic sunglasses pose, a portrait, an Oscar statuette, a ribbon bow, the wide-brimmed hat from Breakfast at Tiffany's, Pippin her pet deer, Holly Golightly's sleep mask, and Audrey from behind in her pearls. Text wraps around several of them, and each has an italic caption.
03 · Pull quotes
Pink-tinted boxes set off pull quotes in bold italic, like "Far more than a movie star, she was a fashion icon, a humanitarian and a symbol of grace and kindness."
04 · The articles
- A star beyond the screen: an introduction to her legacy.
- Early life and the road to fame: a childhood in Belgium, surviving the war in the occupied Netherlands, ballet training, and being discovered by Colette.
- A star is born: her Oscar-winning role in Roman Holiday, and a review of the film.
- A dazzling film career: Sabrina, Funny Face, The Nun's Story, Charade, My Fair Lady and more.
- The timeless elegance of Breakfast at Tiffany's, plus a review.
- A woman with a tender heart: her pet deer, Pippin.
- A heart turned toward the world: her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
- Private life and a lasting legacy, ending on a personal reflection: that elegance lies in kindness and humility, not just appearance.
